Posting Problems
Hello... I had some difficulty with the blog list and the link list. The list shows up when I'm trying to view the customize options. But the templates and the overall blog was modified to the best of my ability. Thank you for the overall experience!
Addition To Wikipedia
Hello all! The article that I contributed to on the Wikipedia encyclopedia was an article by the name of "Gun Culture". My post was "Synopsis- Although there has been recent yet habitually occurring criticisms concerning whether the current gun laws within the United States are too strict or whether further various amendments are needed a comfortable medium has not and quite possibly never be reach due to conflicting opinions deriving from past environment, peace stances, or natural cultural inclinations. A common perspective commonly shared is that making the gun laws more strict will yield a decrease in violent crimes but the reality is this, criminals will be criminals. Meaning that criminals never needed a CCW to pull off other capers in the history of this nation so why would tighter gun laws help? If anything more changes in the gun law spectrum will only make it harder for good law biding citizens of the United States to be able to protect themselves and the lives of their loved ones." and my user name was miss u mom. At the current time I don't know if my addition was deleted or not but hopefully not lol! The experience was good due to the fact that it was an opportunity to learn and actually feel like I contributed to something meaningful.

Gun Facts Due 11/19/08
Fact 1: Most crime guns are stolen property, which makes finding the original owner worthless.
Fact 2: "Firearms that generate markings on cartridge casings can change with use and can also be readily altered by the users. They are not permanently defined like fingerprints or DNA."
Fact 3: The same gun will produce different markings on bullets and casings, and different guns can produce similar markings. Additionally, the type of ammunition actually used in a crime could differ from the type used when the gun was originally test-fired -- a difference that could lead to significant error in suggesting possible matches.1
Fact 4: The rifle used in the Martin Luther King assassination was test fired times under court supervision, and the results showed that no two bullets were marked alike. “Every test bullet was different because it was going over plating created by the previous bullet.”
Fact 5: "The common layman seems to believe that two bullets fired from the same weapon are identical, down to the very last striation placed on them by the weapon. The trained firearms examiner knows how far that is from reality."
Fact 6: Even weapons misclassified as “assault weapons” (common in the former Federal and California "assault weapons" confiscations) are used in less than 1% of all homicides.
Fact 7: Most “assault weapons” have no more firepower or killing capacity than the average hunting rifle and “play a small role in overall violent crime”.
Fact 8: Firearms that can be “readily converted” are already prohibited by law.
Fact9: Only 8% of criminals use anything that is classified (even incorrectly) as an "assault weapon", though less than 1% claimed to use these firearms when committing crimes.
Fact 10: Criminals are as likely to carry single shot (derringer-type) handguns as they are to carry "assault weapons".

assignment 8-3
I'm not sure if the post was correctly added but my question was "What would be the best way for the new Obama administration to support the disabled community (whether it's a new teaching method, more schools built just for disabled, or any other accommodations, etc.)?"
And the one thing that I did learn from this blog on disabilities was that there is a new way of "self monitoring" for the disabled that allows for essentially a better sense of independence for disabled persons.

The piece that I discovered was by a man named Alan Keyes and in the clip he basically described his feelings about gun freedom in the United States. He basically had the same stance as me, being that making more strict gun laws are not going to prevent criminal from attaining a gun. This situation leaves the law abiding citizens with no line of defense because the laws that some are trying to pass make it harder if not impossible for anyone to purchase a weapon for defense purposes. I would say that the one thing that I learned was that it was an incident a few years ago where a campus gunman was disarmed by two students. The catch was that these two student were law abiding citizens that happened to have their guns............now what would have happened if they were not allowed to carry? exactly

I'm not to sure if making more strict laws going to affect the amount of crimes or even the amount of suicides....? I guess a similar situation that this idea can be compared to would have to be when the law raised the legal drinking age to 21. Now according to many people's theories this would lower accidents, but it actually cause a rise in casualties in several different predicaments. So I guess my question would be do you feel the the American people as a whole feel the same now about the gun issue as it pertains to a rise or decrease in deaths due to tighter gun laws?

Although I feel that its a little scary thinking about everybody being able to bring their guns to work, I still remain unwavering on my stance. Which is that everybody has the right to carry. Making guns harder to get will have the same affect as raising the drinking age, which was more accidents. In case anybody has been living in a bubble, making more strict laws to be able to carry a weapon will not discourage anybody who really wants one. All you have to do is turn on the ten o clock news to see that murders are committed with or without a proper license, period.
While searching over the law.com website I found an article that I'm not to sure how I feel about. The article had to do with employees in several states being able to bring firearms on to the companies parking lot. Now while this is in the powers of someone with a CCW I'm not sure if I want everybody having their guns at work. As far as intuition as it pertains to this subject matter, I feel that if an individual has their CCW then they should be able to carry their guns many places. But to think of all previous disgruntle employees that let their personal feelings out in the form of gun fire on employees and customers....well lets just say that the thought provokes chills because individuals loved ones deaths can be the results of such situations.

The Candidates and where they Stand
When it comes to gun control it became pretty clear that Barack Obama has a strong stance on the when and how of why guns (to be specific hand guns) should be banned. He has stood solid on this issue but has been considered misleading when it comes to this topic, but from my research it’s clear that overall he is against guns. Some of his past stances are as follows: Ok for states & cities to determine local gun laws. (Apr 2008), FactCheck: Yes, Obama endorsed Illinois handgun ban. (Apr 2008), Respect 2nd Amendment, but local gun bans ok. (Feb 2008), Provide some common-sense enforcement on gun licensing. (Jan 2008), 2000: cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month. (Oct 2007), Concealed carry OK for retired police officers. (Aug 2007), Stop unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in cities. (Jul 2007), Keep guns out of inner cities--but also problem of morality. (Oct 2006), Bush erred in failing to renew assault weapons ban. (Oct 2004), Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions. (Jul 1998), Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers. (Jul 2005). (Some websites that I was able to locate are http://www.ontheissues.org/Gun_Control.htm#Barack_Obama, http://www.reason.com/news/show/125180.html, http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2003/oct/16/20031016-104703-1418r/, http://www.dispatchpolitics.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2008/10/14/copy/askus14.ART_ART_10-14-08_A1_G1BJK2I.html?adsec=politics&sid=101.)
As far as John McCain he is heavenly endorsed by the NRA, so if I had to give an overall stance as it pertain to his feelings on gun bans, he is definitely in favor of gun freedom. This is evident from his history of voting. His stances are as follows: I know how to use guns; but I don't own one. (Nov 2007), Prosecute criminals, not citizens for gun ownership. (Sep 2007), Don't hold gun manufacturers liable for crimes. (Sep 2007), Opposes restrictions on assault weapons and ammunition types. (Sep 2007), Calls for GOP "tolerance" of closing gun show loopholes. (May 2002), Ban cheap guns; require safety locks; for gun show checks. (Aug 1999), Supports ban on certain assault weapons. (Aug 1999), Voted against Brady Bill & assault weapon ban. (Aug 1999), Guns are a problem, but so are violent web sites & videos. (Aug 1999), Punish criminals who abuse 2nd Amendment rights. (May 1999), Youth Violence Prevention Act restricts guns for kids. (May 1999), Repeal existing gun restrictions; penalize criminal use. (Jul 1998), Voted YES on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers. (Jul 2005), Voted YES on banning lawsuits against gun manufacturers for gun violence. (Mar 2004), Voted NO on background checks at gun shows. (May 1999), Voted YES on more penalties for gun & drug violations. (May 1999), Voted YES on loosening license & background checks at gun shows. (May 1999), Voted YES on maintaining current law: guns sold without trigger locks. (Jul 1998), Ban gun registration & trigger lock law in Washington DC. (Mar 2007), Allow firearms in National Parks. (Feb 2008). (Some websites that I used were http://www.nationalplatforms.com/candidates/john_mccain.html#gun_control, http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Talk/talk.politics.guns/2008-02/msg01237.html, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_of_John_McCain, http://www.helium.com/knowledge/143137-john-mccain-on-gun-control-issues.)
I believe that it is every human beings right to own a gun so even though I side with Barack Obama on most of the other issues, on this one I on McCains’s side. I feel that it is a right so the government has a duty to respect it instead of trying to make the rules stricter. Coming from Detroit I’ve personally seen people killed that would have quite possible made it if they were armed legally. And I say legally because I want to make it clear that I am not saying that everyone should get a gun by any means necessary. I feel that if a person has not committed any violent felonies that they should by the law be able to go through the proper procedure for getting a gun. The opposing view is that basically if there more guns there is going to be more violence. When the reality of it is if the government starts to ban guns they will actually cause the rate of crimes and deaths to go up, because they have, and always will be a part of the American culture.
